A Catholic monk, Thomas Merton puts it well:
Study Ten Thousand Scrolls, Journey Ten Thousand Miles.
And again he says:
A life is either all spiritual or not spiritual at all. No man can serve two masters.
Your life is shaped by the end you live for.
You are made in the image of what you desire.
The aim is to become fully human, with not only a bodily appetites to survive and satisfy, but also a spirit and soul to live by, with a sense of direction and destiny.
