International Service Learning Opportunities at Asian Journeys

INTERESTED TO JOIN A SERVICE-LEARNING TRIP TO CHINA THIS OCTOBER?
Asian Journeys are recruiting 17 youths and young adults for Youth Expedition Project to Beijing, Huairou in October 2009, working in a Railway Kindergarten among children of migrant community in the outskirts of Beijing.
Leaders: Kenneth Hong and Melissa Wong (students from James Cook University, Singapore)
Date: 6th October to 19th October 2009
Job Scope: Setting a reading corner, play room and media resource centre in the kindergarten. Building a playground. Conducting enrichment camp for the students. Painting and refurbishing kindergarten premises.
Cost: $1700 (before subsidy) $800+ (after subsidy)
- Subsidy is for Singaporean & Singaporean PR (aged 15-35) who have not been on any YEP trips
What to expect: Cross Cultural Service-Learning, Understanding Migrant community issues, Broadening of perspective, interacting with locals, working as a team, learning and sharing and other valuable experiences.
Criteria: Between 15-35 years old, have a open mind, willing to learn and share.

AJ-SP Huairou Hope YEP Oct 2009
Asian Journeys will also be facilitating the group from Singapore Polytechnic in Oct 2009 and organising the team to serve at a kindergarten in Huairou district, Beijing serving railway migrant children.
The project team of 17, comprises student leaders of various clubs of Singapore Polytechnic, including the presidents of Student union, environmental club and others. The team will be led by Jesslyn Tan and Timothy Cheong.

JOIN Green Volunteers to Inner Mongolia in AJ’s GREEN DESERT YEP Jun 2010 to combat desertification in Northern China.

Inner Mongolia Environmental Study Field Trip
Asian Journeys will be organising an Environmental Study Field Trip to Inner Mongolia in August 2009 for graduate students of UNISIM in fulfilment of their course requirements for the post-graduate Environmental Science programme.
The trip will be led by the Dean and faculty of the School of Science and Technology and faciliated by Lawrence Ko, along with Keith Khoo and Joyce Lim.
